Richard Marvin Hicks, Steven’s father, was finally able to lay their son to rest in a private funeral. During Dahmer’s Ohio sentencing, Martha Hicks addressed the courtroom, describing her son’s warm and friendly nature. Martha Hicks later sued Jeffrey Dahmer and his family for $50 million, claiming negligence. Although they won the lawsuit, whether they received monetary compensation is unknown. Martha Hicks passed away in 2010, shortly after her husband, Richard.
Steven Hicks was described as warm, friendly, and compassionate. He was a recent graduate of Coventry High School, which implemented the Steven Hicks Scholarship in his memory. Martha Hicks’s obituary requested that any monetary donations be sent to the Steven Hicks Scholarship Fund.
